ZIFA Southern Region Division One outfit Bulawayo Chiefs’ coach Thulani Sibanda has set his sights on winning the championship, saying he will apply the knowledge he attained at the Scottish FA C coaching licence in Cape Town, South Africa at the end of 2015 to ensure victory.

Sibanda, who has now enrolled for the Uefa B coaching badge that will be held in December this year, said he was going to impart the knowledge he acquired from the practical course to his players to steer the team to success.

Chiefs surrendered their championship quest at the death last season despite being neck-on-neck with eventual winners Bulawayo City for the better part of the campaign.

“Judging from our finish last year, I believe this is our year. We’re really working hard with the boys and I’m also fusing new tricks, which I got from the coaching course. I don’t see us going wrong this time around,” said Sibanda.

He said their preparations for the 2016 season were on track and they had lined up a friendly match against Blackboots FC on Saturday at Fairbridge.

“Our preparations are going on well and we have a friendly against Blackboots to give the boys game time and to boost their fitness levels,” he said.

Chiefs lost some players that were instrumental in their unsuccessful championship campaign last season.

Former captain Lindani “Vice” Ncube has joined fellow Division One side Bantu Rovers, while the trio of Ishmael Wadi, defender Last Sithole and goalkeeper Wallace Magalane moved to Zvishavane after signing for Premier League big spenders FC Platinum.

However, the side also made new signings to boost their squad, with Blackboots’ top notch striker Stanley Ngara joining Chiefs alongside Mengezi Dube, formerly with Ntabazinduna, and Trust Moyo from Kombani.
