THE Chevrons will take on Sharjah Cricket Club in the United Arab Emirates tomorrow as part of their preparations for the International Cricket Council World Twenty20 tournament. The Chevrons arrived in the UAE on Saturday to prepare for the World T20 that starts on March 8 and ends on April 3 in India. Zimbabwe have been drawn in Group B of the qualifying round with Hong Kong, Scotland and Afghanistan.

They have been training under the watchful eye of head coach Davenell Whatmore, batting consultant Marvan Atapattu, bowling coach Makhaya Ntini and fitness trainer Sean Bell.

Zimbabwe will play the Sharjah Cricket Club again on Thursday at the same venue, in a rescheduled programme following the unavailability of initial opposition, the United Arab Emirates side, who are participating in the Asia Cup.

The Chevrons will play two more games at the weekend against West Indies before flying to India.

In India they will take on Bangladesh on March 4 and Ireland two days later at Dharamshala.

ZC physiotherapist Anesu Mupotaringa expressed satisfaction with the overall health of the 16 players.

Former captain Elton Chigumbura is expected to join camp in Sharjah from Dubai tomorrow evening after today’s final of the Pakistan Super League involving his team Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
