Old Mutual Academy to take on Masca REPS

OLD Mutual Academy Team and Masca REPS will battle it out for a final slot of the Old Mutual Cricket League T20 2016 Trophy that will be played at the Heath Streak Academy this morning. The winner between the Academy sides and REPS, who were identified as the best cricket developing school, will face Mgiqika Primary in the final set for 11AM.

Mgiqika, who have been adopted by Southern Petroleum secured their final slot after winning the Elifasi Mashaba Chairman’s Cup on Wednesday after beating Robert Tredgold by 10 wickets.

Insukamini, Gampu, Sigombe, Robert Tredgold, REPS, Milton Junior, Khumalo, SOS, Mqqika, Coghlan, Mzilikazi, Mabhukudwana, Mawaba, Mkhithika, Tategulu and Cement took part in the Elifasi Mashaba Chairman’s Cup which started on February 1.

Joseph Rego, the chief executive officer and executive director of the Old Mutual Heath Streak Cricket Academy said they are looking forward to a competitive final.

“The Academy has groomed and nurtured three age groups, the Colts, Under-13 and Under-14 who are being coached by Matabeleland Tuskers cricket Franchise Mxolisi Dube and Cunningham Ncube.

The programmes run by the academy provide leadership and quality development of the game at the grassroots level whose objective is to produce stars. Our aim is to ensure that our talented youngsters have the best opportunities which will help Zimbabwe regain her past sporting glory. We hope to see quality and competitive Old Mutual Cricket League T20 2016 Trophy final,” said Rego.
