Tyson Fury ripped off his shirt and told Wladimir Klitschko that a fat man beat him during a fiery Press conference ahead of the pair’s world heavyweight championship fight this summer.
Fury, who will defend the WBA and WBO belts he won from Klitschko in Dusseldorf when the two boxers meet at the Manchester Arena on July 9, pulled off his black T-shirt, mocked his own physique and told his opponent he should be ashamed not to have won their original encounter in November.
“A fat man — that’s who beat you. Shame on you,” said Fury, turning to face Klitschko in the event yesterday.
“What’s the point of practising your job for 40 years if you can’t beat a fat man?
“You want to see some love handles? You want to see some belly fat?”
The jibe was one of many thrown by both boxers during a heated media event, which lasted around 50 minutes.
Fury had arrived with five cheerleaders but his entourage had barely taken their seats before the champion’s face-to-face meeting with Klitschko descended into a swearing match and accusations of cheating.
Klistchko is still struggling to comprehend how he gave up his heavyweight titles so meekly to a man he regards as an “embarrassment” to the sport.
Taking the microphone, he said: “This is my first time in a long time fighting on British soil. I’ve gone through a lot of emotions in the last months and trying to understand things.
“I made a mistake in the fight and that cost me the titles. Of course it’s not so easy to fight a challenger with great skills, that Fury obviously has. Otherwise he wouldn’t take my titles. — Mailonline.
