Kannapolis — French driver Romain Grosjean will race for Ferrari-powered Haas F1 when they debut next season, the new US-owned Formula One team announced yesterday.
Haas founder and chairman Gene Haas, who is also co-owner of the successful Stewart-Haas NASCAR team, joined Grosjean in a news conference at the team’s Kannapolis headquarters in North Carolina.
The team are the first US-owned entrants in Formula One since 1986.
Grosjean is currently racing for Lotus, who are in the process of being taken over by Renault.
Meanwhile, Two teams have carried through their threat to formally complain to the European Union about Formula 1’s governance structure.
For months, smaller teams have been bemoaning the inequality in pitslane, describing the income system and rule-making strategy group as an illegal “cartel” and arguing it breaches European competition rules. — Reuters
