THE Caps United FC Bulawayo Supporters’ chapter held commemorations in honour of their former national supporters’ organising secretary Godfrey Marange who committed suicide at his Emakhandeni home in January.
The commemorations were held in the city centre ahead of the clash pitting Caps United and How Mine at Luveve Stadium, which the visitors lost 1-2. The supporters marched to the late Marange’s residence in Emakhandeni suburb before heading to Luveve Stadium.
The Caps United Bulawayo Chapter chairman Danmore Zingwe said the march was held to honour Marange’s dedication to the club and the Caps United family in general.
“We came up with the plan to hold celebrations to honour our late secretary because he must be celebrated for the great job he did for the club and fellow supporters. That’s why we dedicated this game (against How Mine) to him,” said Zingwe.
He said the Bulawayo Chapter was still in the process of pooling resources that will go towards the late Marange’s family welfare.
“The national executive is still pooling resources which will go towards the family’s welfare and I believe this will happen in the near future.”
Marange was found hanging from a mango tree at his Emakhandeni home after apparently sending a suicide note to his family’s WhatsApp chat group saying he had “paid for his sins” and asked that they look after his wife and children.
Marange’s family said they were in the dark over what drove him to take his life, although the WhatsApp message seemed to suggest that he had done something terrible and would have brought suffering to his family had he been alive.
