GIANTS dismissed Lupane State University(LSU) 65-16 in the opening game of the Bulawayo Basketball Association (BBA) men’s league at the Bulawayo Club for the Disabled at the weekend.
Despite fielding a largely second-string side, Giants won by the biggest margin to shoot straight to the top of the league while LSU are at the basement. Giants were without national team players Nyasha Ngove and William Muchuchuti and two others.
Oilers are second after beating Highlanders 61-25. Last season’s champions Mavericks edged Nust 50-46. In the women’s league, Lakers top the log after beating Highlanders 54-13. Nust overcame LSU 47-17 to start their campaign at number two.
BBA president Opportunity Moyo said:
“This might be too early to say, but I’m impressed. There are changes that are yet to be seen. Oilers are starting to show a competitive spark and we hope to see more. We hope LSU will improve.”
