Border Strikers 0-2 How Mine
BORDER Strikers succumbed to another home defeat, this time at the hands of How Mine before a huge crowd at Dulivhadzimu Stadium yesterday. Pasca Manhanga opend the scoring for the gold miners with a header in the 27th minute from a Timothy January cross, beating goalkeeper Talent Sande all systems out. The home team tried to counter-attack with William Nyoni and Godfrey Mukambi leading the raids, but the frontline kept misfiring. The teams went to the breather with How Mine leading by the single goal.

Border Strikers’ coach Never Malunga introduced strikers Prince Sibanda and Kudzanai Kwashi for Nyoni and Munyaradzi Chirape respectively. The two exerted pressure on the How Mine backline, but poor finishing continued to let down the Beitbridge outfit.

Praise Tonha sealed Border Strikers’ fate with a powerful shot from a set piece in the 93rd minute. How Mine coach Kelvin Kaindu said his charges committed a lot of unnecessary fouls, although they played well overall.

“We played according to plan, but we made a lot of defensive mistakes. However, we thank God that we have managed to collect maximum points away against a determined team like Border Strikers,” said Kaindu. Malunga said they wasted a lot of chances, but will continue fighting. “We haven’t lost hope. We will continue fighting for points at home or away,” he said.
