Chapungu 2-1 Harare City
CHAPUNGU beat Harare City for the first time yesterday, in a tight Castle Lager Premiership match, and sent their coach John Nyikadzino into delirium.
Cleopas Kapupurika, who is on loan from FC Platinum, poked the ball home from close range 10 minutes into the match off a cross from Xolani Ncube.
The exciting Ncube against turned provider nine minutes later when he found Philip Marufu just outside the box with the veteran forward applying the finish for the second goal.
Harare City seized control of the second half trying to restore parity and pulled one back on the half hour mark through substitute Jerry Chipangura.
“This is a crucial win for us because we got the much needed points and also that we recorded our first victory over Harare City,” said Nyikadzino.
“Credit should go to the players for showing a lot of character.
“They really wanted to win, they fought for every ball and were resolute even when Harare City wanted to come back into the match.”
Harare City coach Moses Chunga blamed his charges for going into the match with the wrong attitude.
“We went into the match with a wrong attitude in the first half and conceded those two goals.
“We tried to rectify it in the second half but it was late because we could not score more goals,” said Chunga.
