NEWLY formed Tsholotsho Pirates Netball Queens’ coach Sehliso Mhlanga believes their 3-66 loss to Highlanders on Sunday had prepared them for what to expect in the Bulawayo Netball League next season.
Tsholotsho played a friendly match against Highlanders as a prerequisite for registering with the Bulawayo Netball League.
“We had a really tough match as we lost by a huge margin. Although it was a social game, to us it was more of a lesson.
“Our aim was to see how other teams in the league play and help us to identify our weaknesses,” said Mhlanga.
“I think we really needed this loss, as we have managed to identify our mistakes and are going to work on them as we prepare for the major league.
“Our main weakness was the lack of endurance because we don’t get enough time to practise as some of our players have work commitments.”
Mhlanga also said they would try to boost their squad by adding some schoolgirls.
Highlanders netball coach Tatenda Gwenzi believes Tsholotsho have great potential to compete in the league next season.
“It’s just that they met a bigger team, but if they work hard they will be tough opponents next season,” Gwenzi said.
