ARCHERS are a game away from lifting the Bulawayo Metropolitan Province Darts League title after running riot over Bellevue who they clobbered 27-12 on Wednesday night.
The victory took Archers’ points tally to 26, and if they win their next game they will reach an unassailable 27 points and clinch the championship.
Despite a convincing victory against the lowly placed Bellevue, Archers captain Ernest Maphepha Sibanda said they will only celebrate after completing the season with a 100 percent record.
“The guys played well on Wednesday night and were never complacent because playing small teams or bottom of the table teams tends to be difficult. Like I said at the start of the season, what we want is to win the title without dropping a point and we’re on course to setting that record. I see nothing stopping us from achieving our target,” said Sibanda.
Archers’ trio of Albert Tawanda, Tafadzwa Mtomba and Brian Ndlovu hit six packs against Bellevue.
Meanwhile, defending champions Railstars kept their fire going as they beat Wise Waters 26-13, taking their points tally to 23.
Railstars had Patrick Zimidzi and Moses Nkala hitting six-packs against Wise Waters.
Trailing the title favourites by three points, second placed Railstars will now aim at finishing the season strongly.
