TALEN Vision wrapped up the Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two league after beating Mpopoma Pirates 2-0 on Sunday to reach an unassailable 58 points with one match remaining.
Second placed Highlanders Academy drew 1-1 with Ajax Hotspurs to move to 54 points, but the Bosso youngsters are thrilled that they have been promoted into the Zifa Southern Region League together with Talen Vision.
Highlanders Academy coach Melusi Mabaleka Sibanda said he was excited by the promotion and was looking forward to another outstanding performance next year.
“We wanted to win Sunday’s match but we managed a draw. Ajax just disturbed our chances of closing the gap on Talen Vision but anyway, we’re focusing on our last game against Talen Vision next weekend and then celebrate our promotion after the match,” said Sibanda.
He said his side had been in Division Two for 12 years and the promotion meant they will now be able to attract some top players since the First Division was now a very competitive league.
In other matches, third placed ZRP Bulawayo dismissed CS Distributors 3-1. The police team now sits on 51 points, three points behind the Bosso academy, and even if Highlanders lose their final game, the cops will have to win by more than 11 goals without reply to beat them.
At the moment, Highlanders Academy have a goal difference of 28 while ZRP Bulawayo’s goal difference is 17.
