THE newly elected Phillip Chiyangwa-led Zifa board has hit the ground running after its first full meeting yesterday came up with seven resolutions that include ordering their biggest affiliate, the Premier Soccer League to hold elections. Elections were also ordered for the Central and Eastern Regions whose chairpersons Felton Kamambo and Piraishe Mabhena respectively were elected into the board last Saturday. The Zimbabwe Women’s Football were also ordered to hold elections to choose a representative, who will sit on the Zifa board, despite Elizabeth Langa having told the media that she would be sitting on the board.

The board further resolved to engage internationally renowned audit firm KPMG to conduct a forensic audit of the association’s properties as soon as possible, while the staff rationalisation process at the association has already started.

In accordance with the Fifa statutes as well as the Zifa constitution, the board came up with judicial bodies that will see Andrew Musengezi chairing the disciplinary committee, Justice Tawanda Chitapi as the appeals’ committee chairperson and Justice Francis Bere chairing the ethics committee.

The standing committees were also set up, with former footballer Edzai Kasinauyo chairing the referees and high performance committees. The finance committee will be chaired by Philemon Machana; the technical development portfolio will be under Kamambo. Mabhena will lead the competitions committee while Zifa vice-president Omega Sibanda will lead the Futsal and Beach soccer as well as administration committees.

The sports medicine chairmanship has been reserved for the PSL representative, who will be known after the league’s elections. The Zifa board will soon meet with the Ministry of Sport and Recreation in relation to the 2016 Rwanda African Nations Championship.

Meanwhile, Zifa vice-president Sibanda will be the acting association president until the end of the year while Chiyangwa is out of the country attending to some pressing business issues.
