ZIFA boss Cuthbert Dube’s Bulawayo provincial meeting which was supposed to be at Eveline High School this afternoon has been postponed. Zifa Bulawayo chairman Washington Sithole said the postponement was due to pressing commitments Dube had to attend to in Harare. “We’re very sorry for the cancellation of the meeting but we assure you that all is under control. We’re yet to finalise a new date for the meeting. The president will be coming soon and we’re going to notify the football public of the new date,” said Sithole.

“We’d invited all affiliates, area zones and former players to share their experiences and give input. The meeting was open to anyone who wished to have a say in the way football should be run in this country,” he said. Dube’s lieutenants had indicated that the tour was aimed at strengthening the association’s bond with its affiliates as well as to assess the state of football and provide solutions to various problems these key football organs are facing.

However, critics dismissed the national tour as a defensive attempt ahead of the explosive Emergency General Meeting on October 3 where Dube is likely to be kicked out. Football fans, officials, players and the government have persistently accused Dube of putting the country’s game into disrepute through his indifferent administrative approach.
